Book of Abstracts Released and Library Services Announcement

With the Research Summit only days away, we’d once again like to thank our speakers and registrants for making this event possible. We’re released the book of abstracts that you can download here and which contains some useful information concerning the programme, invited speakers, special guests and general information about SECAN. Joining us at the event will be Karma Clarke and Ellen O’hehir, our liaison librarians for Science who will be available to answer questions about how the library can support you in throughout the different stages of your research. Karma and Ellen can provide advice on search techniques, reference management, research impact, scholarly publishing, and more. Come by and say hello, they would love to meet you!

Invited speakers and new sponsors

It’s fantastic to announce three new invited speakers from across the faculty who will be giving talks at the research summit this March 24th: from physics Dr Jieqiong Lou, from biosciences and the Peter Doherty Institute Dr Vanessa Rossetto Marcelino and from maths and stats Dr Matthew Tam, welcome all! In addition, we’re excited to announce two new sponsors of our event: The Royal Society of Victoria and The Australian Institute of Physics who are generously donated prizes for best speaker at the event.

We cordially thank the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) for pledging to sponsor our event by providing bottled water and notepads for all attendees. AMSI have also pledged a free registration to their Winter School (usually up to $690) for the best talk relating to mathematical sciences!

The website has been created!

A prototype version of the website for the inaugural Faculty of Science Research Summit at the University of Melbourne has been launched. Here you can keep yourself up to date with the conference, download useful documents like abstract templates, the conference programme and book of abstracts and re-watch some of the conference talks if you didn’t quite catch them the first time!
