Deadline: nominations for 2026 Academy of Science awards

Australian Academy of Science — award applications open

The Australian Academy of Science honorific awards are open for application. The Australian Academy of Science offers two types of opportunities for scientists:

• Honorific awards recognise outstanding contributions to the advancement of science across the career spectrum.
• Funding opportunities support scientists to undertake research projects or travel and deliver lectures both nationally and internationally.

Awards of interest to the AustMS community include:

• The Hannan Medal — recognises outstanding contributions to research in any of the fields of statistical science, pure mathematics, applied mathematics and computational mathematics. The 2027 Hannan Medal is for pure mathematics.
• The Thomas Ranken Lyle Medal — recognises outstanding contributions to research by a scientist in Australia for research in mathematics or physics.
• The Christopher Heyde Medal — recognises outstanding research in the mathematical sciences by researchers up to 10 years post PhD in rotating fields. The 2027 medal is for pure mathematics, applied, computational and financial mathematics.
