4 Continents Diagnostic Mathematics Symposium — Expression of Interest

Dear sigma community,

This is a call for participation for a conference on diagnostic testing and support in tertiary mathematics to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in February 2026.

We are aiming to develop an international community in this important area in mathematics (and statistics) education and develop best practice for the use of diagnostic tests. If you have an interest in the area please consider contributing to the conference.

Dates:
Tuesday 10 February 2026, 9:30–17:30 – Presentations
Wednesday 11 February 2026 – Community-building excursion

Venue: CHED Meeting Place, Level 5, Steve Biko Building, Upper Campus, University of Cape Town

Participation fee: No fee for 10 February, bring or buy your own lunch; Approximate cost of USD200 for the excursion on 11 February.

The optional community building excursion on Wednesday 11 February will either be a full day excursion to the Cape of Good Hope or wine tasting in the Stellenbosch region, depending on people’s preference.
