What you’ll do:
- Course curriculum design and teaching pedagogy within the area of Statistics including Introductory Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Statistical Models, and Multivariate Statistics;
- Deliver engaged and reflective approaches to scholarly teaching which produce the best outcomes for students taking diverse statistics courses;
- Develop quality assessments in line with USQ’s assessment procedures and contribute to the marking of written and practical assessments;
- Supervise honours and postgraduate students in both course work and research projects;
- Provide, as part of the Statistics Consulting Unit (SCU), statistical support to HDR students and other researchers at USQ; and
- Engage in research activities including contributing to USQ’s priority areas of health, agriculture, space and defence, and regional development.
What will help you succeed?
Key to your success in this role will be your strong interpersonal and team-work skills, combined with your proven ability to work effectively in a team. In addition, you will have:
- a PhD in Statistics or a postgraduate degree in Statistics or Applied Statistics or a closely related discipline with appropriate industry experience;
- evidence of high-quality tertiary teaching experience, leadership and productivity, including course and program coordination in diverse statistics courses;
- experience in the use of statistical packages such as SPSS and R; and
- a track record of research that provides an opportunity to advance knowledge and engage with industry including the application of statistics in health, environment, agriculture, space and defence, business and social sciences.
