Call for EOIs for the AustMS EDI Committee

The AustMS is calling for Expressions of Interest from AustMS members willing to serve on the AustMS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the three-year term 2021–2023.
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee promotes the objectives of the Society in relation to equity, diversity and inclusion practices through relevant activities, and provides strategic advice to Council on matters relevant to diversity practices.
Expressions of interest are particularly encouraged from people in under-represented and under-included groups, at all stages of career.
Members of the AustMS interested in serving on this committee are asked to send a short CV and statement as to what they can bring to the Committee.

ANZIAM: The 2021 ANZIAM Medal — Call for nominations

At most one award will be made annually, but only to a candidate of sufficient merit. The selection criteria for the award are:
1. Research achievements.
2. Activities enhancing applied or industrial mathematics, or both, AND
3. Contributions to ANZIAM.
Nominations:
Nominations for the award can be made by any member of ANZIAM other than the nominee. A nomination should consist of a brief CV of the nominee together with the nominee’s list of publications, a one page resumé of the significance of the nominee’s work, and no more than a one page resumé of the significance of the nominee’s work. Nominations should be forwarded in confidence, electronically in PDF format, to the Chair of the Selection Panel, Professor Peter Taylor (taylorpg@unimelb.edu.au) by 1 November 2020.

ANZIAM: The 2021 EO Tuck Medal — Call for nominations

At most one award will be made annually, but only to a candidate of sufficient merit. No person can receive more than one such award and previous winners of the ANZIAM medal are ineligible. The selection criteria for the award are:
1. Outstanding research, relative to opportunity, in Applied and/or Industrial Mathematics, where a significant proportion of the research work has been carried out in Australia and/or New Zealand.
2. Distinguished service in the field of Applied Mathematics. Service in ANZIAM related activities will be highly regarded.
3. On 1 January in the year in which the award is made, the recipient will have normally had their PhD conferred more than ten and less than twenty years ago (see note 3. below).
4. Membership of ANZIAM for at least the five calendar years preceding the year in which the award is made. Backdating of membership is not acceptable.
Notes:
1. In criterion 1 the research portfolio will be assessed relative to opportunity. Any significant teaching and administrative responsibilities will be considered when assessing the volume of a candidate’s research output and contribution.
2. ANZIAM considers it highly desirable that its members advance the profession into the future. The selection panel can consider the potential of the candidate to the discipline (for example, via their ability to be awarded prestigious research fellowships).
3. Any exceptional circumstances should be forwarded to the Executive Committee to assess eligibility; they will normally consider the types of career interruptions allowed by the ARC in their research fellowship guidelines.

A nomination should consist of a brief CV of the nominee together with the nominee’s list of publications, a one page resumé of the significance of the nominee’s work, and a one page resumé of the nominee’s service contribution. Social Media and News Co-ordinator position

We seek a person with a PhD in mathematics, web and social media skills, and preferably also with experience in news curation. Firstly the role services the Society’s social media stakeholders, the new website content management group, conference, workshop and event organisers. Secondly, it curates national and international news feeds for the website, and for social media.
