The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences comprises a number of Academic Programmes including, Mathematics, Statistics/Data Analytics, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Design. The School offers a range of qualifications at undergraduate, post-graduate and professional training levels.
The Division of Health, Engineering, Computing and Science (HECS) undertakes teaching and research in a range of core disciplines grouped under four academic schools. The Division also has several research units, and commercial/equipment units which embody staff and research activities.
Who are you?
You will have a PhD or Masters qualification in Statistics, Data Analytics or a relevant discipline area. This will be supported by your broad and in-depth knowledge of the following areas: Data Analytics and Statistics, the use of Statistics in other Science disciplines and a demonstrated high standard of tertiary level mathematics. Your expertise and interests will be reflected in an established record of quality published research or equivalent at national and preferably international level, with the potential to attract external research funding.
You will have demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching. You will bring your proven ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, along with your commitment to innovative teaching methods.
About the role:
This is an immense opportunity to be part of building a data analytics group that is vibrant, collaborative and with real capacity to provide outstanding teaching across the university, as well as to service the needs of both University-wide research projects and external partners. In the last 12 months alone, there has been a rapid increase in the number of cross-disciplinary research projects between data analytics staff and the rest of the University. This is an exciting time to join us – the market trends in data analysis mean our group is in a place of huge potential.
The role requires your expert knowledge of Data Analytics, applied as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer or Teaching Fellow. The four pillars of the role require:
• Teaching and Learning: Preparing and delivering innovative, research-informed lectures and the assessment of that learning
• Supervision: Supervise honours, graduate and postgraduate students
• Research: Build and maintain an active research programme and conduct quality research and contribute to knowledge development of your specialist areas through scholarship and publication
• Service and Administration: Carry out administration and service relevant to the role.
