The School seeks to recruit a staff member with a developed research program in applied mathematics broadly interpreted, including mathematical modelling, applied probability, mathematical data science and computational mathematics, or a closely related area of mathematics. The appointee will be required to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and curriculum development, including service courses. In addition, the appointee will supervise Higher Degree by Research, postgraduate coursework and Honours students, conduct high-quality research and perform administrative, outreach and other activities associated with the School.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in applied mathematics or a closely related discipline, with an established record of outstanding original research commensurate with career stage. They should have a strong publication record and potential or demonstrated ability to attract external grant funding. They will be an enthusiastic teacher, with the ability to teach courses and supervise projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including courses for non-specialist students. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an ability or potential to establish effective professional relationships and to represent and promote the academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies, as well as to contribute to internal and external service.
