The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics (SMAS) at the University of Wollongong (UOW) is within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. SMAS is a dynamic and active mathematical sciences school with an exceptional research record.

As part of SMAS the Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications (IMIA) carries out world-class research across a broad spectrum of areas in both pure and applied mathematics through its six research centres including the Centre for Nonlinear PDEs. In the Centre for Nonlinear PDEs, the research foci are on nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), especially those related to problems in optimal transportation and convex geometry. Specialisations within our centre include Monge-Ampere type equations; geometric evolution equations; analysis in free boundary problems; analysis in convex geometry; and minimal hypersurfaces.

This position will carry out teaching, research, governance, and community outreach/professional service duties consistent with a Lecturer Level B position. The successful candidate will be a member of Centre for Nonlinear PDEs and contribute to a new research project on Monge–Ampere type equations, with applications to optimal transportation and other geometric problems.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the most vibrant and successful schools in the country. It will also be expected that this position undertakes lecturing duties and teach students in our Mathematics degrees and in other disciplines.
